A Day In Rhode Island

We’re getting ready to head down South, spending as much time as possible with family and friends. I have a few I have yet to visit.

On our way up to Rhode Island we discussed life in Florida. I’ve only been to Orlando and didn’t really like it. Jeff says Miami and its surrounding areas are different. I’ll be there in January — perfect time of the year, no? 🙂 We both agreed we’d miss the changes in the season, more so the fall. I’ve always loved winter, but fall is such a beautiful season.

It was the perfect weather for our trip, and both of our boys were excited to be in the car. It was a good test for our trip to down South. We stopped at a dog park before heading over to my grandmother’s. There was another male husky. He was a bit aggressive, and a man was surprised to see how Rocky reacted. Calm, yet excited, Rocky didn’t let the other dog’s aggressiveness trigger a reaction. He just sat back with Jeff and watched.

Once we got to grandma’s we ate — no surprise here. She loves to cook, but I’m not complaining 😉 One of my aunt’s was on break from work and had stopped by the house. She was excited to see us since I hadn’t seen her since before the pregnancy. Rocky and Sebastian were great My little cousins loved Rocky — all but one. He was terrified of him. I, too, was scared of Rocky when we first got him. The little guy eventually warmed up to Rocky and fed him treats. Of course, Rocky warmed up to him as well because of it.

We met with my cousin Steph and her boyfriend at her house. It was great to finally meet the guy. They seem genuinely happy, and you could see it in their eyes that they care about each other.

But the real reason we went to RI was to see my uncle. I heard he wasn’t doing too well, and this time you could actually see it in his demeanor. My uncle’s your typical, strong Italian old guy that is always smiling. Not this time around. He was serious and seemed to be in pain. It broke my heart to see him this way, but it also reminded me of his age. He’s in his late 70s, and although he never really showed his age (God bless him!) he’s starting to show his pain. I wanted to make the trip to see him, make sure he’s okay, but honestly, he’s not. I’ve been thinking a lot about him, and I pray his leg and spirit gets better. I’m not used to seeing him this way, nor do I like it.

‘Til next time, folks!
