The following post has been scheduled in advance. We are currently awaiting the arrival of our second child and details in this post may or may not be relevant at this time. For the first time in several months my hair is looking amazing after dying it blonde and ditching the heat for a month.
Some might think my hair improved because of the pregnancy and taking prenatals. The truth is, I stopped taking my prenatals around the same time I ditched my blow dryer and flat iron, and opted for air-drying my hair. And that’s because the prenatals were making me sick around the clock.
As for my pregnancy being a factor, that’s out of the question. My hair was a dream when I was pregnant with Sebastian. And for some reason, this second time around my hair has been so brittle and dry. Regardless of what I tried on my hair, I couldn’t keep it from drying up and the added heat from outside wasn’t helping.
So, now that we’ve cleared the air on that, I’ll share my secret: Leave-In Conditioner.
Yes, there is hope for all my fellow frizzy, curly-haired friends in leave-in conditioner. And here’s why: I’ve tried several other conditioners and they left my hair super greasy or flaky. And there’s nothing more annoying than having dandruff.
The Hair Routine
Ifyou’ve ever been told not to comb your hair while it’s wet, then that had to be coming from someone who doesn’t have curly, frizzy hair.
After lathering my hair in shampoo, I like to rinse at least two to three times to make sure I get all the shampoo out. From there, I add conditioner and place my hair into a bun. I leave the conditioner in for a minute or so while I wash myself off.
Then, I separate my hair into two halves and run my fingers through like a comb. Once I’m finished with my entire head, I rinse my hair with a cooler water. A cooler rinse is great for those mornings you just don’t feel like waking up.
Finally, I dry parts of my hair with a towel and apply Leave-In Conditioner throughout, all while combing my hair. A top bun is the final product. I leave my hair this way all day and take it out the following day. My hair comes out perfect and smelling delicious.
And after approximately an entire month of doing this routine, I finally blow-dried ny hair.
Here’s the result: Beautiful, luxurious hair.
