Today is Give Miami Day here in South Florida!
The Miami Diaper Bank is helping to spread the word about the need for diapers to low-income families in South Florida.
Did you know that the government doesn’t recognize diapers as a basic need and they don’t provide assistance to low-income and homeless families with children in diapers? Diapers can’t be purchased with food stamps, and the majority of daycares require parents to provide disposable diapers to enroll their kids.
South Florida babies need our help!
During Give Miami Day, a 24-hour donation fundraiser will take place.
The Miami Foundation has already agreed to match all charitable donations made to the Miami Diaper Bank today, November 17th, 2016.
Every Little Bit Counts
For some people, offering $50 for a cause may be too much for their budget. However, the Miami Diaper Bank has made note that less than $20 can really make a difference for those in need.
According to this Miami Diaper Bank graphic, donating $15 is enough to keep a baby in clean diapers for two weeks.
Considered the biggest annual giving event in South Florida, Give Miami Day helped raise $7,950 to help families in need. So far, the organization has donated more than 80,000.
