Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

If Sebastian could say these words, he would. Although in his own language he tells us about his day and how painful his gases are — poor baby!

Happy Birthday, Papi!

I’ve always been a daddy’s girl, but after seeing my father with Sebastian, I can’t help but reminisce of my childhood. I love the excitement in my father’s face when Sebastian comes down in the morning. His arms are wide open, ready to receive his grandson. My father holds him close, asks how was his night and, if he’s not wearing a long sleeve, asks Jeff or me to get him something to cover the little guy.

Sometimes it feels like Sebastian is in his arms all day. When I leave he’s in his arms, and also when I return.

I’ve been told how lucky I am to have someone close to the family care for him. Truth is, it’s an honor to have my dad care for him. He’s done so much for me as a child, and seeing his love for his little girl reflected in the care he gives Sebastian is amazing. It will be tough when we leave for Florida, but I have hope that one day my parents will join us. They handled the news better than I expected, and even threw in “we’ve been thinking of moving to a warmer climate.”

Let’s pray their thoughts become a reality. 😉
