I’ve shared several times on my blog on how changing my mindset has helped me overcome the pain I experienced in my life.
You’re probably thinking what did I experience in the past to make me the person I am today. Enough. I’ve experienced enough.
And sometimes, just knowing that you’ve been able to get through certain things in life is enough to show you that you can pretty much get through anything.
Experience The Love
My parents have always loved me, but growing up I always searched for it in other people. It wasn’t until I was in my last “teen” years that I realized there was more to life than finding love. Actually, I just reignited the fire with myself.
If you ever get a chance to step outside on a beautiful day, and just go for a walk, you learn to appreciate the love you have found in nature.
At 19, I became obsessed with long walks in the park. I took my friends with me on long walks just to see if they would appreciate it as much as I did.
Some did, others just thought I was some type of hippie.
I used to love going on walks with my dad. We’d go for lunch after. I loved taking him with me because he also enjoys nature walks.
Regardless of who would tag along, I learned to just enjoy the time I spent with them. Talk about life, get to know what they were thinking.
Parks are a great place to just forget about everything for a while.
Becoming A Hug Monster
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t appreciate a big, tight hug. It says so much about the other person.
Whenever I see someone going through a tough time, I like to give them a really big hug. It puts a smile on their face. I never like to see people feeling down. Sometimes a hug can say more than words could ever explain.
A hug can really take on its own language. It simplifies having to find the right words to say, and most importantly, it shows the other person how much you genuinely care.
I love giving hugs, but nothing beats receiving them. Tight hugs from my boys makes everything a lot better.
On tough days, a hug from our toddler always makes me smile. He understands that just being present is enough to make things better. I hope he never changes and that his baby brother learns this little technique. 🙂
