How #WeledaBaby Made Our Trip Smoother

Bedtime is one of the best times to bond with your little one.

Routines have never been something I genuinely enjoy, but with a toddler and another on the way, you pretty much have to do it to help facilitate their growth. And the best part is, your little one will enjoy knowing what to expect each time.

After a long to North Jersey, we were thrown off schedule. Although we did our best to keep his bedtime the same throughout our stay, we lost his nighttime routine I had started earlier this month.

Dealing With Baby Eczema

When Sebastian was a baby, we lived in North Jersey and his skin really felt the impact of dry heat. He was diagnosed with a minor case of eczema as a newborn and it was tough trying to find the right cream and routine to help improve the dry patches. It was tough at first, we tried baby oil and petroleum jelly. These not only left his skin much dryer, they made everything he touched greasy.

To help improve his skin and make bedtime a pleasure, we developed a bedtime procedure that worked like a charm. Below are three simple steps:

1. We ran a warm bath using a body wash for sensitive skin.
2. Then we massaged our little one using a specific lotion to help improve his skin.
3. And finally, we made sure to use appropriate clothing, such as 100% cotton.

These steps came in handy when we transitioned from NJ winter to Florida sunshine back in January 2014. I had received a sample of Weleda Calendula Bath Creme and it was a great way to skip the after bath lotion process. It definitely cut down bath time and the scent is very soothing. Sebastian would fall asleep almost instantly after a bath.  You can read all about my first impression of the Weleda Calendula Bath Cream here.

We also used the same steps when we returned from our recent trip to North Jersey because my son had developed patches of dry skin behind his knees. This time, we used the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow products. Although his face had improved after using the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Face Cream, I had to stop using it because the smell was making me nauseous — that is the problem with this pregnancy, I am way too sensitive to smell.

The Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Body Lotion has become a personal favorite. It reminded me of the importance of body massages. I used to give Sebastian bedtime massages to help him fall asleep faster and stretch out his muscles. It was nice to take out the time to do it again because it really helps him relax at night.

All three of these products are 100% certified natural by NaTrue and were awarded the esteemed National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. Each are organic and considered to be ideal for children with highly sensitive or atopic skin.

Diaper Rash Relief
Jeff had a genius idea to help Sebastian keep calm during our ride. He cushioned his car seat with the infant pillow from our other car seat. This helped a lot and Sebastian did not mind being strapped to his car seat for some time. Of course, there were moments he needed to break away.

After a long drive to and from North Jersey, I discovered our little guy had developed a diaper rash. I used the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Diaper Rash Cream every night to make sure it would help get rid of the rash. After day one, it was practically gone. And thankfully, on the second day it had disappeared.
This was no surprise for us, since the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Diaper Rash Cream uses pharmaceutical-grade zinc oxide and extracts of white mallow — long known for its soothing and healing properties — to effectively relieve and prevent diaper rashes.

We continue to use the Weleda Baby Derma White Mallow Diaper Rash Cream to help prevent future rashes, and because we are always on the go, we like to make sure our little one’s bum is protected at all times.
