Sebastian gets a kick out of this photo. It always calms him down when he’s upset and makes him giggle. I can’t quite figure out why. At first it would make me teary-eyed to see his reaction and begin to think of our old home and family back in Jersey.
Through Sebastian’s reaction I’m reminded of how beautiful and simple life can be and of how his smile/giggle can be so contagious. Whenever I see this painting I think back to the times my dad would walk Sebastian back and forth from the dinning room to the living room until he fell asleep. He’d pass by this photo each time and Sebastian would slowly doze off. He’d sleep peacefully, often with a smile just like the image of the woman.
Sometimes I find myself watching Sebastian as he sleeps. Knowing you’ve met your child’s needs and they’re able to rest, I find that to be one of the most rewarding things about being a parent.
‘Til tomorrow, loves…
