The New M&M: Millennial Mommies

Millennial moms are more willing to create a name for themselves through the use of social selling. In fact, 39% of millennial moms said they started selling items they made using social media. They’ve even started their own business and use social media to promote their company.

Millennial moms aren’t like their own. Nope, they consider their parenting styles to be fun, forgiving, relaxed and aspirational. According to the study, Gen X moms were raised with more protective, worried and enabling parents. Because of this, Mike Fogarty, SVP and Global Publisher at BabyCenter said millennial moms are “reacting to the way they were raised.”

“They’re creating an environment for their kids that’s more laid back and less structured, and they feel more relaxed and happy as parents,” he said. “They reject the pressure they grew up with.”

But what does this mean as far as parenting is concerned? 
Fogarty sees it as millennial parents are “placing a higher importance on parenting than previous generations.” However, these parents aren’t giving up on their individuality” (and they shouldn’t). The result, according to Fogarty, is a highly integrated life, where ‘”we time” is best served with regular doses of ‘me time.'”
