Cleaning is the last thing on my mind when I have a million and one things to do throughout the day. Before I had kids, I enjoyed cleaning. It was a great stress reliever. Today, things have changed. Cleaning with kids in your home causes stress.
Other mom friends have suggested hiring help.
The problem is, you’re asking me to outsource something. I’m not a fan of having anyone do something I could do myself. Although it has created problems in the past, I rather make time to do something, especially when it’s something like cleaning.
Please note, our home is never spotless. With two kids under five and two pups — all of which are very active — it’s almost impossible to keep everything looking like a museum. We allow our little ones to touch and play with almost everything in our home, and they take advantage of that.
Cleaning Can Be Fun, Sometimes
Before I share tips to simplify your cleaning routine, I’ll tell you what I don’t like about cleaning.
For starters, I don’t enjoy cleaning the floors. I’m not a fan of cleaning something twice in less than 15 minutes.
Of course, this happens more often than I’d like since our little ones enjoy taking toys out of the playroom and spreading them throughout the house.
Another reason why I don’t enjoy cleaning is because no matter what, you’ll have to do it again. There’s nothing more exciting than having to clean toilets every week!
Tips To A Cleaner Home
A clean home is important to your health. Whenever I don’t dust our home for a couple of days, I notice the boys get stuffy noses. To help minimize the amount of dirt in our home, I try to tidy up every day.
Even if it’s just one corner a day. It allows me to have a little bit of sanity. At least for that moment.
Below are the three tips I promised to share:
1. Invest in a vacuum.

2. Use vinegar.
When you combine vinegar and water, you get the ultimate cleaning solution. It not only disinfects your home, but it’s also harmless to your family — including your pets. It leaves your floors, mirrors, and glass spotless.
3. Downsize on things.
No matter what you feel is important or will one day hold value in your home, you need to remember that clutter can lead to stress. Start with a closet and work your way throughout the house. It gets easier with time.
