Life goes on. The best way to sum up what living is like, you’d have to compare it to a revolving door.

Just as quickly as you’d make your way into this world, you’re seconds away from exiting it.

In After Life Season 2, we meet Tony Johnson again, only this time he’s more positive. Meeting people in similar shoes helps Ricky Gervais’ character understand the beauty of living.

Death surrounds him and he does his best to make the most out of the time he has with everyone. From his dad to co-workers, he slowly begins to understand the pain he’s been feeling and ways to help others cope with theirs.

Losing a loved one isn’t easy. You notice in Season 1 how losing his wife Lisa has taken a toll on him. The introvert protagonist finds himself feeling sorry for his current situation and takes it out on others, something he wishes he didn’t do.

As time goes on, you find he’s learned to allow people into his life. By expressing his emotions, he meets kind-hearted people, who can relate to his emotions.

He becomes the glue — connecting people to one another. His connections lead others to happiness, some surprising ones along the way.

Relationship Advice From After Life Season 2

Some of the best lessons come to us when we least expect it. That’s one of the funny things about life.

Watching the Netflix Original Series After Life has made me realize there are things in life we can’t control. Nor would we want to.

Some of the most trying moments in our lives will help us get through anything.

I shared a time when love helped my husband and I pull through. It’s helped us deal with other moments in life as well.

Since I finished Season 2 of After Life, I’ve made it a point to focus on the people that matter. Myself, my family, and most importantly, my spouse.

There was a handful of relationship advice I picked up from the Netflix show.

Never let your emotions dictate your ending.

The pain his wife felt during her last days were unbearable, but she kept a smile. To see Ricky Gervais’ character deal with the emotions was an eye-opener for me.

Sometimes we forget how beautiful life can be by focusing on the pain that it brings. Yes, it makes us human to feel emotion, but it shouldn’t define us.

Sadness is a part of life. Living a sad life isn’t.

Don’t be afraid to move forward.

There’s beauty in letting go — you just need to find it. One of the best lessons I’ve learned is that people and things move on.

At times, it might seen unfair to forget or be forgotten, but you learn to appreciate the time you had. The experiences you received along the way are what shape you.

You matter, even when you feel you don’t.

The scariest thing about seeing people and things move forward is feeling as though you don’t matter. You can drive yourself insane feeling this way.

The truth is, you matter. You mattered then and you continue to matter now.

As in After Life Season 2, you find yourself pushing people away because you resent that they get to move forward as well.

When you’re ready, you’ll be able to see how much you matter, not only to others, but to yourself.

Working on those personal thoughts of how you see yourself is what will help you understand your value.

Enjoy the ride.

It’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotions. Make sure the good emotions outweigh the bad ones.

This is how you’ll know whether or not it’s worth working on your relationship.

Final Thoughts On After Life Season 2 Review

I’ve always enjoyed watching Ricky Gervais. The characters he portrays are a lot like his personality.

The message in this Netflix Original Series is one that hit home for me. I’ve always feared finding someone and loving them whole-heartedly.

Watching the protagonist slowly begin to move on from the pain was exciting and painful — all at once.

There will be plenty of tears, so grab your tissues. I recommend watching this alone because there will be ugly cry moments as well.

If you choose to watch with a friend, make sure they’re familiar with Ricky Gervais’ humor. Some people might not understand it and will be confused throughout the entire show.

Be prepared for a show that pulls at your heart strings and makes you realize there’s more to life after sadness.

You can fall into a depression and be lifted by joy. I hope you give the second season a try. I genuinely enjoyed it and join me on season three when it’s released.
