I never knew what being a boy mom meant until I laid eyes on my first-born son. This letter to my first-born son focuses on how much I love watching my son grow.
Being home with him has been such a blessing. I can’t wait to see him go off and do great things.
You may not be the center of my world these days, but you will always hold a special place in my heart.
I want you to know that although I spend a lot of time caring for your baby brother, I’m still watching you. And most importantly, I’m so proud of all you’ve accomplished thus far.
Watching you become the little man you are today is inspiring! And I’m thankful for being able to witness most of your “firsts” these past 2+ years.
You’re everything I hoped for in a first-born and more. You’re smart, silly, and always willing to help around the house. I don’t know exactly how you’ve turned out to be as amazing, but I hope your little brother picks up similar traits.
It amazes me to see how you manage to be so patient with your little brother. I can see you two playing more as he gets older.
Oh, and you may not know this, but I always do my best to cuddle up next to you while you’re asleep. I know it’s tough for you when I have to care for your baby brother in the middle of the night. The crying wakes you up and sometimes it’s tough for you to wake up the next day and head to preschool.
You may not realize it now, but whenever I get a chance to hop back into bed after caring for your brother, I make it a point to hold you and tell you how proud I am of you. I even apologize for losing my patience earlier in the day. It’s not easy trying to balance a newborn and a toddler — more so when both need my attention.
You’re my first real scare as a mom, and we’ll always have that bond. Don’t ever forget how much you mean to me. Your father and I are so proud to call you our own.
Your number one fan
