This school year, I want to teach you the essentials on how to get back some time into your day.

Yes, we all have 24 hours, 7 days a week, etc., but I want to break down some of the ways my family makes time to do the things we need to do so we can do the things we want to do. Below I’ve shared 5 mom hacks that allow us to do so:

  1. Bathe before everyone else does. It might sound silly, but taking that shower in the morning will make a difference in how you feel throughout the day.
  2. Put a load in the wash first. Most moms make themselves a cup of coffee before starting their day. Although I don’t drink coffee, I do prep my husband’s cup in the morning. While the coffee maker runs, I add a load of laundry in the washer.
  3. Keep fruits handy. One of the best fast-food breakfast ideas I like to grab in the morning is fruit. I also add them to the boys’ morning cereal during the school season.
  4. Prepare uniforms/outfit ideas for the week on Saturdays. Personally, I enjoy ironing out the clothes for the week all in one shot, it makes mornings less stressful. I keep their clothes in the closet laid out for the week. I do the same for my husband’s work attire.
  5. Tidy up daily. Most weekends are spent cleaning around here. By tidying up throughout the week, I lighten the load for the weekend. BONUS: Keep a laundry basket by the stairs to grab the misplace items. It makes for easier cleanup.

What other tips would you add for back to school season?

  1. These are such great tips!!! Almost that time already.

  2. Thank God I don’t have to get up early to send kids off to school. But when I did, it was all about being organized. I’d keep their snack bags ready at night in the fridge, uniforms were laid out every night and school bags ready with all the necessary books and stationery too.

  3. I taught my kids how to make their own lunches and prep them the night before. That way, I don’t have t worry about it AT ALL.

  4. Brianne Tursi Manz

Getting the kids in the back-to-school groove can be stressful enough, but it can also be stressful for moms and dads as well. We do lay out outfits the night before, and that might just be done for the whole week now that I’ve read your post! Usually, Sundays are laundry day for the week, but I like your idea of getting a load going first thing, especially if the normal wash day was a bust.

  5. Hehe….hack number 1 always did it for me. That way, I always had plenty of water and time to myself.

  6. I think preparing the food for breakfast ahead of time saves you a lot of time. Also, fruits can be very convenient. An apple or pear really gives you energy and it’s also yummy.

  7. My kid is only 1, so we haven’t done the whole back to school thing yet, but I’m saving these ideas for when that happens! Thanks for sharing!

  8. Terri Ramsey Beavers

These are really great mom hacks for back to school season. When my kids were small I used to start a load of clothes first thing every single day, lol.

  9. These are great tips for parents getting their kids ready to go back to school! Having just graduated from university a few years ago, I’m so relieved to be out of that stressful time, for myself!

  10. As a veteran mom, I can rightly say that these are some cool and useful mom hacks. They can really relieve stress and save time.
