Growing up with curly hair was a challenge for me.

My mom has wavy hair and didn’t know the first thing about taming my curls. Fortunately, now in my late twenties, I’ve learned to care for them with the right products.

And it’s all thanks to social media.

Connecting With Like-Minded Mamas
Having the right products means nothing if you don’t know how to use them.

When I started my curly hair journey I thought about the different products on the shelves. I went with the ones I remembered growing up. Little did I know those products were only good for my kids (who were blessed with their father’s genes in that department).

There’s a leave in conditioner I’ve been using for years that, when compared to the ones I use today, did nothing for my hair.  Fortunately, it works on our boys and my husband’s beard.

Skimming through Instagram, I found a fellow curly-haired mama who wears natural products. She’s been an inspiration for me and many others to not only care for our curls, but also to love them. Her hair tips on YouTube are worth checking out. If there’s anything you see on her social channels that you’d like to use, you can head over to her Amazon store to make a purchase.

Curl Refresh
Planning a last-minute outing can be exhausting when you have little ones to care for and your hair is a mess. After prepping the kids for a trip to visit some family members, I made my way to the bathroom for a curl refresh. This meant using the four products below:

1. A padded brush;
2. Curls Cashmere Curls Jelly
3. Curls Blueberry & Coconut Hair Milk
4. Curls Aloe & Blueberry Juice Curl Moisturizer

Not only do the Curls products smell great, they also leave your hair feeling soft throughout the day. That’s a plus in my book.

Here’s a video of the first episode of The Essentials series highlighting how I was able to refresh my hair with the products above:

  1. My hair can be curly, or wavy or even some days almost straight or half and half. But even when I wake up with ringlets, I am never able to brush out my hair and keep the curls. It looks great at home, then I get to work and its not so great. At least I can hide at my desk.
