After 63 wonderful hours with Jeff, it is back to reality.
This weekend has been a great reminder of how beautiful life can be if you keep it simple. A successful day the beach on Sunday followed by a morning full of errands and an evening at a local park. These are the moments that melt my heart.
I read a post over at Henley & Hadley that made me think of the many times I felt “not good enough” or those days I woke up and wore sweats all day. This mom’s blog post reminded me of how easy it is to just smile if you allow yourself to see the beauty life has to offer. You can read all about this inspirational post here.
Lessons Learned From A Toddler
My son has been the happiest little person I have seen in a very long time. Most babies cry for everything, but not Sebastian. He is pretty tough, and sometimes I worry about him. He has fallen so many times and always manages to get himself back up. it’s inspiring to see him push through life.
Each time I watch him get back up, I feel a part of me become more emotional. Sebastian is no longer a baby. He is turning into a young toddler. Although everyone thinks he is three, he is actually turning two in a couple of months. It is scary to think that it has been that long since the day he was born.
Here are 11 ways that prove living like a tot is more exciting than being an adult:
1. Toddlers are fearless.
There are few things in life that scare the little ones. I see it every day with our son. He’s fearless and ready to take on the world. It’s quite inspiring to watch our son and his views on the world around him.
2. Toddlers are quick to forgive.
Forgiveness has always been tough for me. However, our toddler is quick to accept an apology and move forward. Sometimes I wish I had it in me to do so.
3. Toddlers embrace the world around them.
There’s so much beauty and wonder in life. Toddlers are natural explorers. Oftentimes they’re seen as mischievous. The truth is, they’re just testing how far they can push your buttons.
4. Toddlers learn something daily.
As mentioned above, toddlers love to explore. It’s how they learn about the world. Sometimes it might take them a bit to understand why they shouldn’t run around after eating or repeatedly climb up and down the stairs.
5. Toddlers let out a big laugh.
Toddlers love to laugh, and it shows. Their laughter can be contagious. There’s not a day that I don’t laugh with our little ones. It’s inspiring to catch the things they find humorous.
6. Toddlers enjoy the simple things in life.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen a happier toddler than one who got their hands on a box. It’s interesting to see how they use their imaginations.
7. Toddlers can be flexible.
One of the things I love most about watching our kids go through this stage is how understanding they are. Have you tried to reason with a tot? If you reason with them, they’re more likely to control their emotions.
8. Toddlers are excited to see family and friends.
Our kids typically get excited to see those they love — and it shows on their faces and in their actions. I love how our son reacts to seeing his older cousins. It can be quite inspiring.
9. Toddlers enjoy life to the fullest.
Have you seen a kid happier than when he gets to visit his favorite playground? How about when you give them a snack after playing at the playground? There are wonderful lessons to learn from kids about the beauty of life. Embracing it is one of them.
10. A toddler’s love is unconditional.
Toddlers don’t think about whether you are of a certain race or how you wear your hair. If they love you, then they love you for who you are. Adults can learn about accepting others from tots.
11. Toddlers make time for others.
I’m the worst when it comes to making others a priority. It’s not that I don’t like helping others, but I rather focus on my family and the things we hope to accomplish throughout the day/week.
One of the things I love about our little guy is how much he makes it a point to place others first.
